Naturally Create Clearer & Brighter Skin

Lymphatic Drainage and Your Skin

One of my favorite parts about my job is learning about the body and how interconnected everything is! This past month I took a class to become certified in a technique of lymphatic drainage massage. I’ve taken a couple of other classes  (and even taught some)  on the subject over the years, but it’s amazing to me how there is always something new to learn!

The lymphatic system is a one-way drainage system that assists in removing toxins and wastes from the connective tissues. Since the skin is made up of connective tissues the lymphatic system is instrumental in keeping your skin healthy as it not only clears toxins and waste but also encourages oxygenation and nutrients to the tissues ensuring clearer and brighter skin.

Since the lymphatic system has no pump it relies on breathing, muscular movement, and the natural pumping of our circulatory system. (Yesssss, exercise is a helpful tool for healthy skin!) Another amazing way to clear the stagnant flow of lymph is through lymphatic facial massage. In fact, you have over 600 lymph nodes in your body with ⅓ of them residing in your face!

Lymphatic drainage is a light rhythmic massage that:

  • Promotes clearer and brighter skin

  • Detoxifies and reduces puffiness

  • Boosts immunity and skin healing which speeds the healing of breakouts while reducing post-inflammatory breakout marks

  • Calms, soothes and relaxes  the body by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system

This is especially beneficial for anyone struggling with the following:

  • Breakout prone skin

  • Oily and/or congested skin

  • Those experiencing hormonal fluctuations

  • Those dealing with chronic stress

  • Those dealing with rosacea

Services you can find lymphatic drainage in at about-face:
